And the fact that they couldn't make it 64 bit becuase a large chunk of consumers are still on 32 bit systems meaning they wouldn't be able to play the game AND 64 bit can make the game run worse, not better which is what you would expect. Which is sorta what happened with rome 2. Forget about your contraints till they actually constrain you. Games also got harder to make, hardware is so different to each other now more complex stuff had to be on. But empire to rome 2 things changed a lot. Between medieval 1 and medieval 2 there wasn't much difference including rome 1 squished in the middle. What CA started to do was innovate on a grand scale. Making them not DLCs but the same principle applies.

No is better in this way, a lousy bandits spawned you gone to fight them with your main army. Wait a few turns and your back to full strength. So long as a unit doesnt get totally wiped out, it doesnt matter if you lose 50% of your army or lose 5% in a battle. I think the reason why Rome 2 and Attila are lacking features during release is because of its reliance on mod support. This is not a rant for all you trolls out there but a reminiscent thought of mine. I am hoping that the next total war will be more like Medieval 2 in terms of diplomacy and historical events. I was hoping that Attila would be the same since they brought back family tree but other than that it was good despite missing some features that was present in previous total wars.

Invasion of the mongols and timurids, call for a crusade and jihad, discovery of gunpowder, electing a pope, discovery of the new world, princess marrying, pope assassinated, spy infiltration and all other good stuff had its own unique cinematic. Event animations are plenty in Atilla but noithing compared to what was featured in Medieval 2.

Attila tried to save the abomination that was Rome 2 by adding all these features that was already in Medieval 2. Medieval 2 is a definition of a true total war game where every feature that you wanted from a historical themed game is there. No dlc's to pay so you can play your favourite factions aside from Kingdoms expansion which was pretty good so it was worth the pay. Medieval 2 had everything in it in a single package. Rome 2 on the other hand is a total в™Ґв™Ґв™Ґв™Ґ before emperor 13 patches later edition came. Dont get me wrong Attila is pretty good but not as good as Medieval 2 or Shogun 2.
